UPDATED: February 18th. 2011

In previous years we have collected shirts throughout the year and then forwarded whatever shirts we had collected to troops on a first come, first served basis in the springtime. We did this because initially we had a limited number of shirts coming in as the program started and slowly grew.

I am pleased to say that we have now reached a point where we have a steady supply of shirts coming in to us throughout the year from first responders across Canada and we are now able to fill requests from troops year round. I am also pleased to say that although we say shirts are sent on a first come, first served basis, we have never had to tell a soldier we did not have shirts to send them. Every request from troops has been filled.

FIRST RESPONDERS...By collecting all the shirts at one point, we are able to ensure that every box we send to troops contains shirts and hats from all the various first responder groups and that there is a variety of sizes from different hometowns across Canada. Every shirt we ship has a message from HeroTo Hero Team Canada attached to it  and we also stamp every shirt with the words Hero To Hero "Team Canada".

Don't forget to attach your contact info to each and every item you donate. Just staple a business card or piece of paper to the collar of the shirts. You are also welcome to send patches, pins, letters, postcards, etc. with your shirts. Feel free to take a picture of yourself or your crew holding up your shirt(s). Send it along with your shirts.

Many first responders have said to me they don't want to attach contact info because they do not want recognition....they just want to do something for the troops. Let me say this about that...you are not doing it for recognition. You are doing it in case the troop receiving your shirt would like the opportunity to say thanks. I suspect that if you received something out of the blue from someone wanting to say thanks for the job you're doing, you probably would want to know who sent it. Am i right? OK, i'll be checking the Hero To Hero mailbox every day looking for YOUR departments shirts.

Thanks for participating in the Hero To Hero Team Canada Troop Morale Campaign.

TROOPS...... If you would like to receive shirts for your unit/group/platoon etc., simply e-mail me at troopshirts@gmail.com and we will work out the details. We do not send individual shirts. You must be willing to receive shirts for yourself and those working with you that you wish to share with. I need to be contacted directly by the soldier/sailor/airman/woman requesting the shirts. If someone contacts me and says their friends son/daughter is deployed and to send them some shirts i cannot, even if they give me the troops overseas address. I will not ship any shirts unless i know the troop wants and is able to receive them. We have had cases where the troop was not able to receive packages for various reasons. Al i will need to know from you is how many shirts you would like, how much longer you will be deployed, and your overseas address.
